White Paper:
Estimating the Manufacturing Costs of Chips to Modules in China
PRICE parametric cost estimating is making rapid progress in the Peoples Republic of China. At the forefront are products like the PRICE M Microcircuit Cost Estimating Model, which have been introduced to China's major large-systems developers by independent industry experts. One such expert, RWF Consulting LLC, documents the positive developments in a white paper presented at the 6th International Conference on Electronics Packaging Technology (ICEPT-China) held in Shenzhen. PRICE Systems congratulates Mr. Ralph Farrington on his valuable insights and success with PRICE M in the China market.

U.S. Symposium Update: Speaker Lineup Set
Part of cost management is a sound project control methodology—a view that will be shared by speakers at PRICE System's annual U.S. Symposium, "True Program Success '06," to be held in San Diego April 19-21. At last year's symposium, guest speaker David Green from the National Weather Service addressed issues of multiple program funding and "portfolio affordability management" with his presentation on "Improving Portfolio Cost Planning and Control-Methods Before Tools." Expect more insights into the value of project control using PRICE cost models and methodologies at this year's sessions, featuring speakers from organizations such as Aerospace Corporation, BAE Systems, L-3 Communications, NASA, OPNAV, and Sikorsky Aircraft. Join us in San Diego! See you at the Welcome Reception on the evening of April 18.

Powered by PRICE Research™: True COSYSMO Development
COSYSMO (Constructive System Engineering Cost Model) from the University of Southern California's Center for Software Excellence (USC CSE) will help estimate System Engineering costs for large-scale software and hardware systems. It is aligned with ANSI/IEIA 623 and ISO/IEC 15288 standards, and implements parametric relationships developed through collaboration with USC CSE affiliates and International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) members. True COSYSMO, PRICE Systems' implementation of COSYSMO in the PRICE TruePlanning® framework, extends access and usability of the COSYSMO concept to PRICE users. While USC CSE is still working to collect additional data sets to complete validation, the technology is available in beta form. For more information contact:

PES Service Release 1 Available on PRICE Systems Support Portal
Service Release 1 (SR1) for PRICE Estimating Suite (PES) is available for download from the PRICE Systems Support Portal. Service Release 1 updates PRICE Estimating Suite 2005 to address PRICE H application of the "As Spent" cost type to some elements, language selections for hardware/software integration, and category selection for throughput elements. This update enables PRICE HL to calculate confidence levels based on the correct number of parts and modules sets, as shown on the Initial Supply Matrix and the Detailed Output Report. Service Release 1 also contains improvements to the PRICE Solution for Microsoft® Excel®. These include the ability to open the PRICE Solution from the PRICE H File menu and to promote and demote elements from the PRICE Solution's Edit menu. Service Release 1 also enables operation of the Auto Calculation function.
