Software Tip: Assessing Impacts of Code Growth in Software Estimates

Code growth has plagued software projects for a long time. Cost estimators will continue to be challenged to produce more code early in the project stages. Norm Augustine—current chairman of the audit committee of the National Association of Corporate Directors—sums up the problem: "Software is like entropy. It is difficult to grasp, weighs nothing and obeys the second law of thermodynamics; i.e. it always increases." TruePlanning® by PRICE Systems provides early indicators to how risky a particular code count is. Easy-to-use risk input features and comprehensive reporting help project teams better plan and manage code growth in their project.
