For the past 15 years, the Department of Defense (DoD) has placed increasing emphasis on the identification and exploitation of software reuse opportunities when developing new weapon systems. Unfortunately, the results have been mixed at best. This Webinar will discuss the strategies and rationale for reusing software artifacts, explore software reuse pitfalls, and outline what prevents successful implementations. The Webinar will also present common techniques and methods that can be used to improve cost estimates for programs that rely heavily on existing software.
"Lunch and Learn" educational Webinars address Program Affordability Management topics that our customers feel are vitally important to today's procurement, cost management, and program management professionals.

How does a model built in the 1970’s have to grow to address hardware estimating challenges in 2007 and beyond? Arlene Minkiewicz, Chief Scientist at PRICE Systems recently posed the question at the International Society of Parametric Analysts (ISPA) conference and in her award-winning paper, “The Evolution of Hardware Estimating”. Arlene skillfully presents the challenges for today’s cost community and presents remedies to topics such as estimating Systems of Systems, the System Engineering roles, off-the-shelf integrations, transferring commercial technologies to military platforms, co-mingling technologies of various maturity levels, and the oversight and management of complex projects.
