BAE SYSTEMS Underwater Weapons Division - a world leader in the design, development, production and through life support of advanced underwater systems - has licensed PRICE Systems H and HL (Life Cycle Cost Model) software since 1989. The Division needs to generate accurate estimates of projects in their early conceptual stages (e.g. feasibility study, project definition and bid support) with a minimal amount of hardware information.
The PRICE Hardware Estimating Model meets this need and the resulting data is incorporated into the PRICE Hardware Life Cycle Estimating Model to estimate life cycle cost and to calibrate and validate the model's effectiveness: and improve its' accuracy. Furthermore, the interactive nature of the H and HL models enables sensitivity analysis during the early phases of bid support.
Changing one or more variables in an estimate, such as operating time, complexity, size, weight, maintenance policies etc. - with the design authority present - enables BAE SYSTEMS to quickly show the effect of design changes on cost. This process is used for Design Development, Production and Life Cycle Cost estimates.
