Part 1 described 2016’s updates in the Hardware catalog’s for Unmanned Space as well as Additive manufacturing (i.e., 3D Printing).

So what is else is forthcoming in TruePlanning v2016, specifically the Software catalog?

We’ve done some significant things actually-- 

  • Extended sizing with a RICEFW Calculator-- This existing option enhances the “Function Points from RICE” sizing calculator option with the addition of Forms and Workflows. The former counts the forms developed to meet agencies requirements not matched by standard forms in the ERP.  The latter counts the automated business processes that integrate tasks across business units, applications and system boundaries.
  •  Added a Software Data Cost Object-- This new cost object models the true cost of design, implementation, testing and maintenance of data sets necessary to meet requirements for a software project.  Example where data sets are needed are supporting simulations, populating databases, and creating terrain representations.
  •  Added more Languages—The programming language lists were updated to include:

  • Added Contractor Resources to the Software Component-- Each activity with labor resources in the Software Component now has a Development Contractor or Maintenance Contractor resource. Inputs for Development Service Options and Maintenance Services Options have also been added to affect these resources.
  • Added DO-178 and D0-254 Guidance for Operating Specification and Development Team Complexity-- Under the “standard mode” for both calculators, this addition extends the fidelity of generating Op.Spec. and Dev. Team Complexity values. {DO-178B is the “Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification” guideline. RTCA/DO-254 is the “Design Assurance Guidance for Airborne Electronic Hardware” guideline.}
