TruePlanning® 2016 will be coming out very soon, and with it, we will debut a new set of cost estimation models for Operational / Site Activation / Deployment of automated information systems (AIS). These models capture the costs of system deployment activities on one or more sites (study visits, installation, commissioning, migration, etc...). These activities are performed in a design office and on the sites defined by the contract. They begin at the end of the development phase and continue through the installation phase of the site’s systems.
The model was built with the guidance from experts with 30+ years experience in this field, and data from projects including warship communication systems, vehicle C4I systems, naval tracker systems, air traffic management systems, SAP systems and more. There are 2 separate models that were developed – a “Deployment Studies” model to capture the non-recurring activities, and a “Site Survey and Deployment” model to capture recurring activities.
Deployment Studies cost model (Non-recurring Activities)
This model estimates the design work for the setting up of all the principles, rules and means for deploying the systems in line with the contract specifications. This includes:
Site Survey and Deployment cost model (Recurring Activities)
This model estimates cost two types of recurring work on the sites:
1. Site visits or "Site Survey (SS)": These visits are used to identify and prepare for the deployment of a system on a site. Performed before the deployment study tasks, they allow the collection of all the information and data, technical constraints, and opportunities for the implementation of the system deployment folder for a site. They are held with the client specifier or the future users of the site. This activity consists of three generic tasks;
2. Deployment of the system: System deployment on a site breaks through the following generic tasks:
