If you are a baby-boomer like me and occasionally suffer from symptoms of mid-life crises it is important to answer the question, ” What is the purpose of my work, my mission, my raison d’être?” So, I am starting this blog by taking a step away from the challenges on my desk at the moment to look at the big picture. Business leaders agree that reliable shareholder value lies in companies that sustain profitable growth and are “built to last”. Hence, leaders focus on improving key performance indicators (KPIs) throughout their companies to improve shareholder value: revenue growth, profitability, productivity, and customer satisfaction. Accurate and timely estimates are critical to each objective. Inaccurate estimates lead to unhappy customers, lost revenue opportunities and delayed cost savings, degrading shareholder value.
My mission in life is to help business leaders sustain profitable growth by empowering them with estimating accuracy – this is my raison d’être. I am passionate about the value of what I do and the impact it has on business success. Later I will expand on each of these KPIs, but with my mid-life crisis avoided for now I will get back to the work on my desk. …now, if only it was so simple to get rid of those extra mid-life inches around my waist.
